Senior Accountant

Description

Zafran is looking for a Senior Accountant to be our first accounting hire in the United States and a foundational member of our growing finance team. This is a high-impact, build-from-scratch role - you won't just maintain the books, you'll help establish the financial infrastructure that scales with us. Working closely with our Finance leadership, you'll own our US accounting operations end-to-end, spanning everything from day-to-day transactions to compliance, reporting, and process-building. If you thrive in ambiguity, know how to leverage AI tools to punch above your weight, and want to leave a real mark on a fast-growing cybersecurity company, this is your seat.

About Zafran:

Our Mission: To stop the exploitations of vulnerabilities, everywhere.

What makes us different: Zafran de-risks 90% of critical vulnerabilities overnight across your hybrid environment and uses your existing security tools to rapidly mitigate and remediate the 10% most likely to be exploited.

Who’s behind us: Zafran is backed by Sequoia Capital, Cyberstarts, and a deep belief that cybersecurity should move as fast as attackers do. We’re one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry, scaling to meet demand from the world’s most advanced, security-obsessed organizations.

We’re serious about our mission- so expect work that matters, teammates who challenge and inspire you, and plenty of fun along the way!

What you will do:

  • General Ledger Ownership: Maintain and oversee the general ledger for US entities, including posting and reviewing journal entries, ensuring accurate transaction classification, and managing intercompany entries across Zafran's global structure.
  • Accruals & Month-End Close: Own the US close process end-to-end - managing accruals, prepaid expenses, and deferred revenue, ensuring all transactions are recorded, reconciled, and documented on time. Drive continuous improvements in close efficiency as we scale.
  • US Tax & Compliance: Manage federal and state tax obligations, sales and use tax across jurisdictions, and ensure compliance with applicable US tax laws. Liaise with external advisors as needed - you don't need to be a tax specialist, but you need to know enough to keep us compliant and ask the right questions.
  • Accounts Receivable & Payable: Own AR and AP operations, including invoice processing, collections follow-up, payment reconciliations, and vendor management.
  • Bank & Credit Card Reconciliations: Own monthly reconciliations across all US accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Systems & Tooling: Be the day-to-day owner of our core finance stack — NetSuite, Salesforce, Mesh and more, ensuring data integrity across systems and driving integrations that reduce manual work.
  • AI-Powered Operations: Actively use AI tools to automate repetitive workflows, improve accuracy, and scale the finance function without scaling headcount. We want someone who sees AI as a force multiplier, not a novelty.
  • Policy & Process Building: Partner with Finance leadership to design and document accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures - building the foundation the team will grow on.
  • Audit Readiness: Maintain audit-ready financials, support external auditors, and ensure documentation standards are upheld across all US entities.
